The Secret of Love

This story is about Thomas, he is a boy who felicitous period of eight years old. Thomas is a child who is sick - in pain and half deaf, far behind his classmates in school. The teachers tend to be quickly annoyed with him because he was slow to understand. His classmates treat imitate his like that . It is usual for them mocking or laughing at him because he was doing wrong. The world is not friendly to him.

Thomas has a mother. A mother whom had come after the bad days at school. A mother who is loves him as son. A mother would sit with him at the dining table and listen how bad the days passed.
A mother can be more than just reading a series of words. The mothers can read the sadness and loneliness that radiates from the faces of their children. If something bad happens, he'll recognize it from their eyes, or of how his son was running or from a drooping head.

One day Thomas came home with a letter from the headmaster. Thomas kicked out of school because his brain chaos. Her mother was not angry or anxious because of the letter. He hugged Thomas and gently say that everything will be fine. He knows that Thomas is slower than their peers, but he was convinced that Thomas can learn if the lessons communicated to him by more slowly. He himself had taught him at home. His efforts began to no avail. Thomas began to move forward, a moment later he began designing a new invention, created this and that. Everything seemed silly at first.

When Thomas finally dies, the whole country, all Americans honor by turning off electricity in every corner of America for one minute. Thomas, who was expelled from school by the headmaster because of his brain slow; the usual view classmates laugh. Thomas is Thomas Alva Edison, inventor light bulb and phonograph.

Incredible love of a mother is, so strong to support their children so the results are very surprising.

Is It Important to Choose an Accredited School?

Most of teenagers need to go to school and there are a lot of schools over there. Nowadays, schools grow to offer plenty of choice; private and state ones. However it is a hard choice since there are many factors which need to be considered before making the selection. Some will be influenced by friends; because some friend got to certain school than we go to there too. Some prefer to choose certain school because of the closer distance. In fact, the primary decisive matter for selecting school is whether the school has been accredited or not. Why is important to choose an accredited school?



Well, accredited schools have an edge over the unaccredited schools. This label of Accredited School has an impact in employment opportunities. As result, if there are two or more students with similar qualifications, the student who comes from the accredited school will have an edge over the other candidate. Student from an accredited school has more open door than student with an accredited one.



Many students select certain school depending more on short term factors like friend influence and short distance from home. It is not bad since commuting actually needs much cost. Choosing school which is closer to home will save time, energy and money. However if that school is not accredited, the time and money spent along studying seems to be waste in the long term because it could become a limiting factor in gaining future opportunities.

Accredited school is not the only factor which will drive student’s success. Personality and characterization are very important too. However a student with good personality who comes from an accredited school is better than the others.

Language is the mean of communication. Mostly groups of society have their own languages. Some of them appear the top global languages. Finally, the most easily seen in the importance of learning English is that most top requirement in filling job opportunities is the ability using English; active or passive. Sometimes people come into your life and you know right away that they were meant to be there... to serve some sort of purpose, teach you a lesson or help figure out who you are or who you want to become. You never know who these people may be but when you lock eyes with them, you know at that very moment that they will affect your life in some profound way.

And sometimes things happen to you that may seem horrible, painful and unfair, but in reflection you realize that without overcoming those obstacles you would have never realized your potential, strength, willpower or heart.



Nothing happens by chance or by means of good luck.

Illness, injury, love, lost moments of true greatness and sheer stupidity..... all occurs to test the limits of your soul. Without these small tests, life would be like a smoothly paved, straight, flat road to nowhere, safe and comfortable but dull and utterly pointless.

The people you meet affect your life. The successes and downfalls that you experience can create who you are, and the bad experiences can be learned from. In fact, they are probably the most poignant and important ones.

If someone hurts you, betrays you or breaks your heart, forgive them because they have helped you learn about trust and the importance of being cautious to whom you open your heart to.

If someone loves you, love them back unconditionally, not only because they love you, but because they are teaching you to love and open your heart and eyes to little things.

Make every day count.

Appreciate every moment and take from it everything that you possibly can, for you may never be able to experience it again.

Talk to people you have never talked to before, and actually listen.

CHARACTER BUILDING - Love Each Other

In this section, I will begin with an old story that I have ever read. This is about a pair of grandparents who faithfully until the end of their lives. Actually what makes them so loved one another? Narrated, each time these grandparents ate, the grandfather always give the fish head to Grandma. On the contrary, the grandmother gave fishtail to the grandfather. This goes on constantly in their lives, exactly when dining with dishes of fish. At the moment, the grandmother protests with grandfather, she said, "why do you always give me the fish head? Actually I do not like it!". The grandfather, seemed surprised by grandmother’s statement, then the grandfather said, "I also do not like fishtail." both of them silent for a long while looking at each other. the grandfather then said, "The part of fish that I like to eat is the head, I loved you, so I thought it would be better if I give you something that I want for you. And you always gave me the fishtail, although I don’t like it I tried to eat".

The grandmother began to glisten, she was touched by the grandfather statement's, then said, "I most like to eat fishtail, but I give unto you, that I want show my love by giving what I like and I tried to like fish head also because I don’t want make you feel disappointed."
From the story above, what do you get? Honestly, while read this story, I got a valuable lesson, to love others by do our best. In this case, the grandma and grandpa love each other with share the something that they like. Yes, this is indeed very difficult, as most humans are born selfish creatures. Let alone to provide what we like, sometimes things we do not like though is difficult to give to others. It's not easy to build a character who wants to socialize with other creatures, but we could have done if he had the intention.

CHARACTER BUILDING - Fried Rice and Step Child

This story is taken from a true story in 1960s era in Pontianak and retold from generation to generation, and my mom always told me. Hopefully useful.

Just mention the name of the boy is A Siang. He was a boy aged 8 years and still sits in second grade elementary school. He was an orphan, her mother died when giving birth, and her father remarried. But his father also died of illness a few months ago.

A Siang live in a small town in Pontianak, along with her stepmother. His father married again when his mother died, and from his new wife, he was blessed with a boy who is different one year with A Siang. Just mention the name of A Kwang, his aged seven years and sat on the bench first grade.

While his father was still alive, his step-mother love him. Whatever A Kwang has , A Siang get it also. But after his father death, her step mom’s original characteristics appear. Almost every day A Siang always treated very differently with those found by A Kwang.

A Siang and A Kwang school at the same place. Every day they are always given lunch by their mother. The menu should be equal between A Siang and A Kwang, since his father's death, A Siang always get a different menu with his stepbrother.

Indeed every morning before go to school, they were always given breakfast. If A Kwang get a delicious menu every morning, A Siang every day always get the same menu: fried rice. Even including a menu that brings to school every day: fried rice.

A Kwang had protested to his mother because she never fried rice dish out to him, while the A Siang’s lunch menus are always not be separated from the fried rice.

"A Kwang, my son.I'm Sorry.Is Not that mom did not want cook fried rice to you. But it's hot fried rice, especially if I fry with meat goats. I mean if gave him fried rice every day is so hot in his long run and eventually died. " his mother said.

Finally A Kwang can accept and understand what her mother treated her differently.

A Siang himself never asked why his stepmother always gave him fried rice menu ranging from breakfast to lunch menu at school. Their dinner menu was not much different, only breakfast and lunch are always different.

One day, as usually A Siang brings fried rice for lunch at school and one of his teacher pay attention. He also asked A Siang why everyday he is always eating fried rice. A Siang said his mother gave he and A Kwang the same menu since his father died.

The teacher just nodding his head because he understands the bad attitude of A Siang’s stepmother, then the teacher said, "Every morning when you came to school, you come to my room first. I will gives you a cup of bitter tea. Drink the tea before starting your studies in classroom. And each finished lunch, you return to me again. I will gives you a cup of bitter tea. Drink before you continue your lesson. "

A Siang teacher's wishes, and it was all done and A Kwang didn’t know.

A month, two months, passed. A Siang’s stepmother shock and disbelief when he realized a Siang still healthy and never suffer pain, especially pain in the heat. Instead, a Siang even more body fat.

Her mind initially turned evil become greedy. She thought the fried rice could make a person fat. And from that day, he gave the same menu to A Kwang, children, ranging from breakfast until lunch.

A month, two months, passed. A Kwang started coughing, frequent headaches and often feverish body heat. But his mama still give the fried rice with the hope their children will become fat like A Siang. A Kwang eventually died from heat illness he suffered was not prevented in again and reached its peak.

He did not know that A Siang always drink a bitter tea made by his teacher every time he finished eating the fried rice, because of the bitter taste tea can neutralize the fat and heat provided by the fried rice. So the expectation that he wanted happened to A Siang did not happen and prevented by a cup of tea after each meal of fried rice and even caused it on to their own biological child.

Only after the departure of A Kwang, the teacher came to their house and explain everything. After the incident, A Siang’s stepmother regret and she finally received a Siang as her own son and they live happily. Since that day there was no longer the fried rice was cook to A Siang.

Several lessons that can we learn from this true story are:
1. Do not do the wickedness because it will be exposed to bad karma.
2. Do not be greedy because greed would bring suffering.
3. Not all people who do wickedness was success because the truth will ultimately prevail.
4. Not always too good and innocent people become easy targets of crime, because people like that there would be salvation.
5. People in doing good, though yet to receive the reward but the suffering has been away from it. Instead of people doing wickedness, though not yet got revenge, but fortune has been away from it.

JIGSAW

I just wanna share about what I learn about jigsaw teaching technique.
it is interesting for me, because I think it almost have no weakness (according to me exactly). The jigsaw teaching technique was invented and named in 1971 in Austin, Texas by a graduate professor named Elliot Aronson. Recent desegregation had forced a racial mix on the students of Austin, and many teachers were unable to cope with the turmoil and hostility of the situation (Aronson, 2007).
some benefits that I learn are:
- Teacher is not the sole provider of knowledge
- Efficient way to learn
- Students take ownership in the work and achievement
- Students are held accountable among their peers
- Learning revolves around interaction with peers
- Students are active participants in the learning process
- Builds interpersonal and interactive skills
The jigsaw strategy is a cooperative learning technique appropriate for students from 3rd to 12th grade. It is also used extensively in adult English Second Language (or ESL) classes. The strategy is an efficient teaching method that also encourages listening, engagement, interaction, peer teaching, and cooperation by giving each member of the group an essential part to play in the academic activity. Both individual and group accountability are built into the process. In ESL classrooms, jigsaws are a four-skills approach, integrating reading, speaking, listening and writing.

Based on my reading,the finding of this research will be useful for teacher trainees who are interested in analyzing teaching reading to the secondary school. It will give experiences and clear understanding about the process of teaching reading use cooperative method especially jigsaw to the readers. beside that it will give contribution to English teacher and can be a reference to improve their ability and competence in teaching English. In addition, jigsaw teaching technique will contribute to the development of knowledge especially language teaching methodology.

In this structure, students are members two different group, the 'home group' and 'jigsaw group'. initially, students meet in their groups and each member of the group is assigned a portion of the material to learn as an expect.

for example :

The class will be divided to 4 groups.
the 1st group research about behaviorism.
the 2nd group research about cognitivism.
the 3rd group research about contructivism.
the 4th group research about humanism.

collectively, each group will discuss the material on their task. after that the class is divided into four new groups. Each group will have one team member from each of the teams. Each member of the group is responsible for teaching the rest of the group what he/she has learned from his/her team assignment. Step 1

Make sure that you have a clear, interesting title which contains good grammar and it easy to understand. Try not to make the title too long or too short, you want to entice people not scare them away.
Step 2

Make sure that you do your best to spell correctly and also ensure that your grammar isn't too bad. No one is perfect, but really bad grammar gets difficult to understand and it sometimes gives the impression that a person is trashy, so work on your grammar.

This may look cute, but it is extremely hard to read and is very annoying. Most people ignore such a question.

Avoid typing your whole answer in

CAPITAL LETTERS.

Capital letters is like code for screaming, it *sounds* rude and is also not that easy to read.

Use paragraphs when asking a question. It is truly exhausting to read a question that is one long explanation and it is much easier to avoid such questions that to even bother answering them.

Also try and keep your question to one page maximum. Rather ask another question that follows on the first one. That will make it easier to read and understand.

Be specific about what you are asking, i.e.

Don't state that for example you and your boyfriend are having relationship problems. Say why and what went wrong.

Avoid swearing and name calling when asking a question. It could probably end up being deleted, but people will most likely just be rude back to you. So pretend for the few seconds that you are typing it that you have the best manners in the world.

CHARACTER BUILDING - a True ReaL fRiend

"True real friends double your happiness and half your burdens", I like this statement. Basically how you would like a true real friend to be, you should be like this to your true friends. Trust, forgiveness, accountability are some ingredients of a true friend. True friendships are hard to come by. And what's more, life is short. So treasure these friends if you have already have them. If you don't continue to search, because once you have them, life becomes so much easier to live, no matter what happens. I have been through pretty rough patches and I dare say, without my friends I would not have made it.


Friendships need lots of energy and patience to maintain them. Not to mention time too. When your friend needs you, sometimes when things are not going too well on your side, it is often so easy to turn a deaf ear to their pleas. It is especially during these times, that you must find the strength in you to help your friend. And it is during these times that your friendship will be forged and made stronger.

And you must always be happy for their successes, even when things are not going too well on your side. It might be hard to do for some people but it is something that you need to learn. Think about all the sacrifices your friend has made for you and all the times when he or she was happy for you despite his or her own troubles.

Think about all the happy times you all enjoyed and the sad, rough times you all went through together. That should give you sufficient patience to actually be a true friend for them.
